Officials to unveil Veterans Memorial Highway sign for Route 100 near Washington

WASHINGTON – State officials are pleased to unveil the Veterans Memorial Highway sign for Route 100 between Interstate 44 and Route 47 near Washington at a dedication ceremony on Thursday, November 12. The ceremony will begin promptly at noon and will take place near eastbound Route 100 at the JCPenney’s parking lot, where parking will be available. The media and the public are invited to attend.

“We would like to recognize our veterans by naming this section of Route 100 in honor of them,” said Judy Wagner, MoDOT Area Engineer for Franklin County. “We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices they have made for our country.”

The sign for the westbound lanes on Route 100 will be installed upon completion of the widening project, which is part of a cost-share partnership between MoDOT and the city of Washington. The $21.1 million dollar project will add two additional lanes on Route 100 from Interstate 44 to Route 47. The widening project is expected to be complete in June 2010.
