Health Fair Well-Attended, Hospital Says

Organizers of the first ever Heart Healthy Fair at Hermann Area District Hospital this past Saturday say the event was a success, with about 50 participants or blood draws, according to hospital spokesperson Keva Limberg.
“We are very pleased,” she said on Saturday. “If they learned something here today that they didn’t know before that might prevent them from having a heart attack, then we’re doing our job.”
The fair began at 8 a.m. and ended at noon. Limberg reported a strong turnout early in the day. “We have no place to go but up,” she said. “We think the people that were here will tell other people to go check it out.”
After having his body fat and blood pressure tested, Berger resident John Oelsen joked with hospital staffers, “For a bald fat man, I’m not doing too bad.”
Twenty-eight people registered for the free screenings, cholesterol test and “Talk to the Cardiologist” presentation. The rest were walk-ins.
