Letter to the Editor: The Real Agenda of the Humane Society of the U.S.

Letter to the Editor

Subject:  The Real Agenda of the Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS)

Missouri faces a controversial Ballot Measure this November.  The radical animal rights movement is sweeping across our nation, using emotion to manipulate our democratic ballot initiative process. What is really behind this ballot measure is your personal property rights, your right to own pets and livestock, and it poses a dangerous threat to our U.S. economy and food supply.

We need to enforce the current laws that are already on the books concerning animal welfare.

You may have seen the advertisements on TV to give $19.00 per month to help an animal shelters.  Do you know how much of that actually goes to help animals?  ½ % or about 9 cents out of the $19.00 you’ve sent them.  The rest is spent for fund raising and lobbying campaigns against food production.

We attended a meeting at Pillar in the Valley, Chesterfield, MO, July 24, 2010, hosted by “Missourians for Animal Care.” In a two hour program, the real agenda of HSUS was explained.  Simply stated, we’ll start with what HSUS is NOT about.  They are NOT about helping animals.  There was a minister who opened the program.  His take on HSUS, and we agree with him, is that some people believe in God and the Creation account in Genesis; some people believe in Mother Earth as god and evolution.  It is good against evil.  God’s Word tells us that in the last days there will be false prophets instructing us not to eat meat, I Timothy 4:3.

 In the NEW WORLD order, here are some of the things HSUS IS about :

    * Eliminate all animal agriculture;
    * Prohibit hunting, trapping and fishing;
    * Animals can no longer be sold for pets (this is already happening in San Francisco);
    * Vegetarian meals should be made available at all public institutions, including schools;
    * No herbicides, pesticides or other agricultural chemicals should be used;
    * Transfer enforcement of animal welfare legislation away from the Department of Agriculture (lawyers will be in charge);
    * End the use of animals in entertainment and sports (no more dog shows, rodeos, zoos, etc.).

Please be aware of what is happening in our state. Missouri currently produces about 5% of the nation’s food supply.  This proposition will not help, but will hurt family farms.  Where will our food come from?
