Letter to the Editor, Vote YES for Proposition C
In regards to the letter to the editor by Dan McKinney, dated July 23, 2010, he states that Missouri hospitals would lose money over the next ten years if Proposition C passes. He is probably correct.
When we were at the Health Care hearings in Jefferson City earlier this year, I believe the only person there to testify against Prop C was from the Missouri Hospital Association.
Is this a reason to vote NO for Prop C? We do not believe so. There is a larger issue to be concerned about; that is, what the people of Missouri will lose if REQUIRED by the “Central Planners” (Federal Government) to accept their health insurance plan.
We are both retired, and are in the Medicare system, so it might be to our advantage if Prop C did not pass. But, as a veteran, I do not want to be forced into a system like the Central Planner’s VA medical system.
Constitutionally, the Central Planners do not have authority to mandate that we buy any thing. The only way they can do that is if we accept what they give us. In other words, we give up our rights and let them be usurpers. I will not complain about the medical treatment I received while in the military, but, it is not the same as being able to choose what medical facilities or doctors you will use. WE WILL LOSE THE FREEDOM OF CHOICE. Don’t we all want “Freedom of Choice.”?
We will be voting YES for Prop C because we choose to care for ourselves and will not accept what the Central Planners choose to give us. Has anyone heard of rationing of health care? Has anyone read up on Cass Sunstein or Donald Berwick, what their philosophy is on life and death, and the “decolonization” of the earth? Cass Sunstein believes in the “whole life system.” For us elderly folks, this could mean we will not receive the care we would under the current system. We will not be “worth” hip replacements, heart surgery, etc.
Before you vote NO on Prop C, find out what these folks are about. Remember what Benjamin Franklin said, those who would give up the freedom of choice to receive free health care, deserve neither, and in the end will lose both (my paraphrase of Mr. Franklin’s statement below).
