New Haven School District Not Participating in Race to the Top

The New Haven School Board voted unanimously Thursday night, May 13, not to sign the Memorandum of Understanding that had a Friday deadline for submission.

“Signing it would probably not affect it at all,” said School Superintendent Kyle Kruse. “Not signing it registers our belief that it is not our vision for education.” Kruse doesn’t believe Missouri has a chance to be included in Race to the Top anyway. He also said they don’t have enough specifics about what Missouri would require schools to do.

The Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA) is not supporting Race to the Top. Earlier this week the R-II School Board voted not to participate in the program.
