The Gasconade County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Ron Jost,
Northern District Commissioner Matthew Penning, Southern District Commissioner Jerry
Lairmore present at Drake with road dept.  Items discussed included:  general
maintenance issues; gravel hauling is ongoing; all agreed to wait to bid the small truck
until first quarter ends and balances are reviewed plus there is nothing confirmed on the
spreader cost; drawing up specifications on bidding culvert work; several roads are still

Some Gasconade County departments that use AT&T phone systems are to receive a 20 percent discount on their phone bills - and county employees, a 15 percent discount on their personal AT&T phone service, according to Commissioner Jerry Lairmore, who announced the “good news” at Thursday morning’s county commission meeting.

“That’s a significant savings,” Lairmore said. “This will be some help to employees of Gasconade County.”

County Releases Filing Order for August Election

Seven persons declared their candidacy for Gasconade County offices on Tuesday, which was the first day of filing for the August 3 primary election.

Seven persons declared their candidacy for Gasconade County offices on Tuesday, which was the first day of filing for the August 3 primary election. The order was determined by a lottery system, with Associate Circuit Judge John B. Berkemeyer (Republican), drawing the No. 1 spot.

County Commissioners Tackle Maintenance Issues

Ron Jost set the tone for Thursday’s meeting of the Gasconade County Commission, when early in the discussions the presiding commissioner said, “I don’t think there’s a road in the county that doesn’t need to be worked on.”

The Gasconade County R-1 School District is expanding its Community Education Program

Community Education has been a part of the Gasconade County R-1 School District for many years. It has played a vital yet somewhat discrete role. Classes offered by the district or taught through an affiliation with the district are varied and eclectic.

Examples of classes offered in the past are welding, computer literacy, GED, and Karate. The 3 most prominent programs currently available are the adult language German classes, the community choir, and tea kwon do (Karate) classes.
