As you all know, we have had some unusual weather this winter. We’ve  experienced several periods of snow, some rain and many cycles of freezing, and  thawing leaving several potholes behind. The Street Department will be patching  some of these holes, starting with the high traffic areas and concentrating on the worse. You will notice that some streets that look worst than others will get little attention at first.

Tonight's City of Hermann Board of Aldermen meeting will cover several city ordinances which are in their second reading and authorizing Paradigm Architects and C.M. Archer Group, P.C. to develop final plans and bid documents for the construction of an Amtrak station and transportation museum in downtown Hermann.

Rosebud Man Dies In Accident Between Spring Bluff And Gerald

Nicholas C. Helton, 21, of Rosebud, was killed in a two-car accident west of Spring Bluff at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.  Both vehicles were eastbound on Route AC, 3.8 miles west of Hwy. 185 in Franklin County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Helton, who was driving a 1995 Ford Escort, was traveling too fast for conditions and skidded into the rear of a 2002 Dodge Dakota driven by Craig W. Stack, 20, of Bourbon.

Stack's vehicle overturned and came to rest on the north side of Route AC.

The group, tentatively named, Happy Cat Team, Inc., by the citizen committee formed to address cat issues in Hermann, would sign an annual contract to provide cat services for the city, attorney David Politte said.

At the suggestion of City Attorney David Politte, some cat supporters in Hermann have agreed to establish a non-profit group that would work with the city to control the population of at-large, feral cats.

The group, tentatively named, Happy Cat Team, Inc., by the citizen committee formed to address cat issues in Hermann, would sign an annual contract to provide cat services for the city, attorney David Politte said.

The annual FFA week wrapped up at Hermann High School Friday afternoon with the FFA chapter's annual “Barnyard Day.” With FFA members bringing in livestock of their own, elementary students from Hermann and St. George School, along with other younger children, are given the chance to see farm livestock up close and learn a little bit about the livestock.

Hermann FFA advisor Tracy Vedder, along with advisor Lisa Grosse, coordinate “Barnyard Day” each year and students eagerly await the event.

Community Foundation of the Hermann Area 2009 Snapshot Released

The Board of Governors of the Community Foundation of the Hermann Area include:  Paula Pierce, Jane Meyer, Muriel Brison, Tom Engemann, Jim Holland, Steve Mueller, Chris Neale, Glenn Warnebold and Bob Bohl.
 
Total Assets of the Community Foundation of the Hermann Area as of 12/31/09 are $130,660. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that since inception in 2005, the Community Foundation of the Hermann Area has made grants & distributions of $138,406.

In response to the $6.25 million wastewater bond issue approved by Hermann voters earlier this month, the Board of Aldermen on Monday took an initial step toward increasing city sewer rates.

In response to the $6.25 million wastewater bond issue approved by Hermann voters earlier this month, the Board of Aldermen on Monday took an initial step toward increasing city sewer rates.

The Board approved on first reading an ordinance to increase sewer rates incrementally over a year's time, for a total $20 per month increase. Also approved on first reading was an ordinance decreasing electric rates by 10 percent.

“Most everybody should see a decline in the electric,” Mayor Larry Miskel said Tuesday.
