An upcoming U.S. Supreme Court ruling could allow farmers everywhere to once again plant a variety of alfalfa seed  - which has so far been deemed illegal by a California court.

Monsanto Company had produced a genetically engineered alfalfa seed that was marketed under its Roundup Ready product line; this line is resistant to Roundup weed killer. A 2007 District Court ruling overturned the government's initial 2005 approval of the seed.

Wright City, Mo. man indicted on Federal child pornography charges

FBI logoST. LOUIS — James Harper was indicted on multiple charges of transportation and possession of child pornography, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap announced today.

Harper, of Wright City, Mo., was indicted on Sep. 3 by a federal grand jury on two felony counts of transportation of child pornography and two felony counts of possession of child pornography.

Missouri Farm Bureau supports effort to overturn livestock ruling

Farm Bureau director says that Arrow Rock livestock producers can't settle for Circuit Court ruling.

Missouri Farm Bureau filed a brief appealing the denial of a previous motion to intervene in the appeal of the Second Amended Judgment of the Circuit Court of Cole County in the case of Missouri Parks Association, Village of Arrow Rock and Friends of Arrow Rock vs. the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

In its brief, Missouri Farm Bureau gives several reasons why the Circuit Court of Cole County ruling should be reversed or vacated. Among those reasons are the following:

Circuit court judge says she will enter judgment for salary lawsuit defendants this week

Circuit Court Judge Cynthia Eckelkamp, who originally ruled for the plaintiffs in the Penning-Lackman salary lawsuit, said Tuesday that she will enter her new judgment for the defendants before the end of the week. An appellate court overturned Eckelkamp’s ruling this summer based on the statute of limitations, and the Missouri Supreme Court denied plaintiffs a hearing on Oct. 6 to review the appellate decision.
