Police Chief Hahn Reports on Washington Town & Country Fair

The 2010 Washington Town & Country Fair was a large success as far as safety and security is concerned, according to Washington Police Chief Ken Hahn. “This year’s Fair was tremendous as far as security is concerned,” stated Chief Hahn. “The weather was good for three of the five days, which helps, and we also have gotten our operations down to where we only need minimal tweaks each year. Crowds were large but well behaved overall. Altogether it was a very successful Fair,” advised Chief Hahn.

Drug Task Force Arrests St. Clair Teens for Heroin

Acting on information received in the Union heroin arrests, the Franklin County Drug Task Force went to a residence on Main Street in St. Clair.

A 17-year-old and a 19-year-old male were found to be in possession of a small amount of heroin and both admitted using the substance. They were both arrested according to Sgt. Jason Grellner of the Franklin County Drug Task Force.

Heroin Arrests Made in Union Wednesday

On Wednesday, Aug. 4, the Franklin County Drug Task Force heard about a possible ongoing heroin sales in Union. With the assistance of the Union Police Department, an investigation was made at the Riverview Trailer Park where they found a white female, 19, who they were familiar with from a previous heroin investigation. It was later discovered that she had hidden approximately three-and-a-half grams of heroin in a body cavity. She was one of three people arrested there.

Franklin County Drug Task Force Seizes Heroin in Washington

On Monday, Aug. 2, the Drug Task Force learned about possible heroin dealing in an apartment at 206B West Fourth Street. They went to the apartment and made contact with the occupants, which included a white female in her late twenties, who is the tenant, and a black male in his twenties, who was staying with her.

Lt. Kyle Kitcher, Assistant Chief of Police with the Union Police Department sent in the following press releases.

August 5: Drug Violation – Possession Marijuana. A suspect on South Oak admitted to having a pipe with marijuana in his pocket and was issued citations. He was identified as an 18-year-old male from Robertsville.

Suspects Stealing Fuel Lead Authorities on Chase Through Three Counties

Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke reports that fuel was stolen from a private residence near the intersection of Hwy. BB and Hwy. A about midnight and a police chase resulted, which eventually led into Warren and St. Charles counties, where the suspects were taken into custody.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies received a call about a stealing in progress on Amber Ridge Drive near the intersection of Hwy. BB and Hwy A around 12:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6. Individuals had, reportedly just stolen fuel from that location.

Franklin County Emergency Response Training Session Held in New Haven

On Wednesday, Aug. 4, the New Haven Police Department, working with the Franklin County Emergency Response Team, participated in a joint training exercise utilizing one of the empty factories in New Haven.
