Blues Win in Shootout

LONG ISLAND - Patrik Berglund scored his scored his 11th goal of the season, T.J. Oshie and Brad Boyes scored in the shootout and Chris Mason made 29 saves as the St. Louis Blues won on the road Thursday night, defeating the New York Islanders, 2-1.

St. Louis (31-26-9) will next play on Saturday night, March 13, on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Game time is 6 p.m.

Blues Win Streak Ends in Colorado

DENVER – Alex Steen scored a pair of goals – his 17th and 18th of the year – but it wasn’t nearly enough as the St. Louis Blues were buried by the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night in Denver, 7-3.

Chris Steward had a hat-trick for Colorado, including a penalty shot goal, helping Colorado turn a 1-0 deficit into a 5-1 lead – a lead that was 6-3 until the final two minutes when Matt Hendricks’ empty-netter was the final nail in the Blues proverbial coffin.

Blues Win Fifth Straight

DALLAS – With yet another outstanding effort on Thursday night, the St. Louis Blues won their fifth straight game and are now just one point out of the eight and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 6-1 road win over the Dallas Stars.

St. Louis got a pair of goals on the night from Paul Kariya (14), while Brad Boyes (12), Alex Steen (16), Patrik Berglund (10) and T.J. Oshie (15) all scored once each.

Blues Cruise To Win In Phoenix

PHOENIX – After falling behind 1-0 early in the game on Tuesday night, the St. Louis Blues scored five straight goals and came away with a 5-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.

T.J. Oshie (14), Jay McClement (9), Andy McDonals (20), David Backes (14) and Brad Boyes (11) all scored for the Blues, who are now 28-25-9 on the year. Phoenix, meanwhile, fell to 37-22-5.

The Blues will next play on Thursday night, March 4, on the road against the Dallas Stars. Game time is 7 p.m.

Three straight wins have the team on a high heading into the Olympic break

ST. LOUIS – Heading into the Olympic break, the St. Louis Blues are riding a hot streak and are within four points of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, their latest triumph a 4-3 shootout victory over the NHL’s best team, the Washington Capitals.

Chris Mason was once again outstanding in goal, stopping 31 shots on the night in additon to keeping the Capitals scoreless in each of their four shootout attempts.

Mason, Blues Shutout Maple Leafs

Mason makes 30 saves; Weaver dealt to Pittsburgh

ST. LOUIS – In one of their more lopsided victories of the year, the St. Louis Blues got a shutout from goalie Chris Mason (30 saves) on Friday night and defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-0 in front of a sellout crowd of 19,150.

The Blues got goals from Andy McDonald (19), T.J. Oshie (12), Alex Steen (15) and B.J. Crombeen (5), while improving their record to 27-25-9 on the year.

St. Louis next plays tomorrow night, February 13, at home against the Washington Capitals. Game time at the Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis is 7 p.m.

After blowing a 3-1 lead, St. Louis prevails in a shootout

ST. LOUIS - One night after an less-than-outstanding performance in Colorado, the Blues once again turned to goalis Chris Mason on Tuesday night against the visiting Detroit Red Wings. And Mason would respond, treating the sellout crowd of 19,150 to a 39-save performance in what would eventually become a 4-3 Blues victory in a shootout.

The Blues led Detroit 3-1 late in the game thanks to a pair of second period goals by Paul Kariya (his 11th and 12th of the year) and a Andy McDonald's 18th of the year in the third, but the Red Wings came roaring back to force overtime.

Colorado Gets Past Blues In Denver

Avalanche score four straight to pick up victory

DENVER – After getting out to a 1-0 and later a 2-1 lead, the St. Louis Blues were run over on Tuesday night by the Colorado Avalanche, 5-2.

The Blues got off to a good start when Eric Brewer scored his sixth of the year to give his team a 1-0 lead, and after Colorado tied it Erik Johnson gave the Blues a 2-1 lead with his fifth of the year later in the period. The Avalanche tied it before the end of the period when Brandon Yip scored his first of two on the night, one of four straight goals for Colorado.

Blackhawks Hold Off Blues, Win 2-1

Despite a late flurry, the St. Louis Blues couldn’t mount a comeback on Saturday night and eventually fell to the Chicago Blackhawks, 2-1.

ST. LOUIS – Despite a late flurry, the St. Louis Blues couldn’t mount a comeback on Saturday night and eventually fell to the Chicago Blackhawks, 2-1.

Alex Steen scored his 14th of the season at the 18:14 mark of the third period while the Blues had a five-on-three advantage to cut into the Hawks 2-0 lead, but were unable to net the game-tying goal with a five-on-four at the end of the game.

Chicago was led on the night by Patrick Sharp’s 17th goal and Jonathan Toews’ 19th of the year.
