Cornhuskers Overwhelm Mizzou In Big 12 Tournament

KANSAS CITY – After trailing by double digits for most of the game and facing a 39-28 deficit at the half, the Missouri Tigers were never really a threat to the 12-seed Nebraska Cornhuskers on Wednesday in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament, eventually falling, 75-60.

The Tigers, who are now 22-10 overall, will now wait for this weekend’s NCAA tournament announcements, where it is presumed that thanks in large part to an RPI rating of 39, will get a bid to the dance.

Drury Swimming And Diving Squads Set To Begin Defense Of National Championships

CANTON, Ohio - It's that annual time of year when the Drury men's and women's swimming and diving squads trade their traditional school colors for those of red, black and white - as in a gigantic bullseye.

It's the price you pay when you have the tradition of coach Brian Reynolds' Panther squads at the NCAA-II National Championships, where the Drury men have captured the past five national titles and the DU women have won two of the last three, including last March in Houston, Texas.

Kim English Named To The USBWA All-District Team

Missouri sophomore guard Kim English added to his growing list of awards on Tuesday, as he was named to the United States Basketball Writers Association All-District VI team. English is the third Tiger named to the team over the past two seasons, joining DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons who were named All-District in 2009.

Former Drury Basketball Coaching Great Marvin Walker Passes Away

He had been battling a respiratory condition for several years, and was in Pittsburgh awaiting a lung transplant when he died.

Marvin Walker, the Drury Panthers’ head basketball coach from 1980-1991, passed away earlier this morning in a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania hospital.

Walker, who has been battling a respiratory condition for several years, was in Pittsburgh awaiting a lung transplant when he died. Arrangements for Coach Walker’s funeral, which will take place in Washington, Missouri, are pending.
 

Washington University Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Qualifies Six For D3 Indoor Championships

ST. LOUIS - The Washington University in St. Louis men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams combined to have six-student athletes in three events qualify to compete in the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, as announced Monday by the NCAA selection committee.
 

Mizzou Women Win In Overtime

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team outscored the Texas Tech Lady Raiders 11-8 in overtime as the Tigers picked up a 58-55 victory on Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena. The win was the 250 of Head Coach Cindy Stein's career.

The Tigers improved to 12-17 overall and 2-14 in league play while the Lady Raiders fell to 17-13 and 5-11.
