Oldest Runner, Youngest “Runner” and Oldest Spectator in the NH Youth Fair’s 5K Run

The youngest runner (sort of) in New Haven Saturday was Zoey Schwab, 14-month-old daughter of Chris and Melissa Schwab

By Sue Blesi

Marvin Van Leer not only had the honor of being the oldest participant in the New Haven Youth Fair 5K Run Saturday morning, but his mother, Viola Van Leer, was the oldest spectator. At age 105, she was interested and wanted to come to see her son run. She lives in her own home and can remember things that no one else can because no one around her is old enough to have shared her earlier experiences! A granddaughter, Pam Klenke of Beaufort, accompanied Viola. Glenn Van Leer, former mayor of Union is also Viola’s son and Glenn is Pam's father.
