New Haven Girls Relate Their Girls State Experiences

Four New Haven High School Juniors recently returned from Girls State and related their experiences at a meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Monday evening.

New Haven American Legion Auxiliary sponsored four area high school juniors to attend Girls State, which was held June 20-26. Monday evening, July 12, the girls, Shay Jasper, Cynthia Chavez, Julie Scheer and Shelby Jasper, reported their experiences to the auxiliary.

Shay Jasper served as an election official at Girls State. She counted ballots, helped the governor and mayor with their campaigns, and served as Central Committee Woman, helping decide the platform for candidates. She is the daughter of Lester and Elizabeth Jasper.

New Haven Legion Auxiliary Announces Essay Contest Winners

New Haven students named winners in essay competition through American Legion Auxiliary Unit 366.

Each year, New Haven American Legion Auxiliary Unit 366 sponsors an essay contest for elementary and middle school children. Winners of the local competition are automatically entered in the district competition, and those winners have a chance at winning the statewide contest, referred to as the department level. KIRKSVILLE - Truman State University has released the Spring 2010 President's List. To qualify for this list, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 4.0 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.

Truman State University, founded in 1867, is Missouri's only highly selective public liberal arts and sciences university. Truman has the highest graduation rate of all Missouri public institutions. More than 50 percent of Truman's graduates pursue an advanced degree immediately upon graduating. Truman enrolls approximately 5,800 students.
