Hermann Schools Celebrate 3rd Distinction In Performance Award In A Row

To win the Distinction in Performance award, a school district must meet 13 of the 14 required performance standards

Thursday morning, the Hermann High School gym was packed with students, teachers, administrators and guests as the school district celebrated its third 'Distinction in Performance' award in a row. The award has also been won four of the last five years by the district.

To win the Distinction in Performance award, a school district must meet 13 of the 14 required performance standards, which include:
        • Missouri Assessment Program testing

2009 Hermann Grad Inducted Into Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society

Phi Eta Sigma is an honor society for students who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of any academic period during a student's first year.

A 2009 Hermann High School graduate is a new member of Phi Eta Sigma at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. Elizabeth 'Beth' Kelsey, daughter of Charles and Marilyn Kelsey of Hermann, was inducted on February 27, 2010. Kelsey is a freshman, majoring in radiography.

Phi Eta Sigma is an honor society for students who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of any academic period during a student's first year. It was founded in 1923 and is the oldest and largest national honor society for first year students.

Ashley Fields Recognized For Volunteer Service

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recognizes young people across America for outstanding Community service activities.

Ashley Fields, senior at Hermann High School, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with the President's Volunteer Service Award.

The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Obama.  Ashley participated in the Spirit of Community program this year as a representative of Hermann High School's FCCLA chapter where she is a senior.

Hermann Elementary Team Player And Super Star Of The Week

Dayton Ruediger, a second grade student in Ms. Joan Mundwiller's class, was chosen in a drawing held at school.

Hermann Elementary is happy to announce their TEAM Player and "Super Star of the Week".  Dayton Ruediger, a second grade student in Ms. Joan Mundwiller's class, was chosen in a drawing held at school.

Dayton earned his award for displaying a positive work ethic.  At school Dayton enjoys spelling, recess time, and doing flash cards in math.  He likes spending his free time riding his 3-wheeler or spending time with his brother.  Dayton lists pickles and deer meat as his favorite foods. Dayton is the son of Larry and Mindy Ruediger.

Westminster Receives Presidential Community Service Award

Westminster College has been named to the 2009 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.

"Leadership and service are at the core of Westminster's mission," says Westminster President Dr. George B. Forsythe.  "The joy we experience in serving others is ample reward, but we appreciate this prestigious recognition of Westminster's contributions to the city, county, state, and nation."
