The public is invited to join in a celebration for Karen Higano and the Trail Ride for Ovarian Cancer at 6:00 p.m. Friday night at Jillsie's. Festivities include dinner, wine tasting and a performance from the Bluff Tones.
Higano is a 4-year cancer survivor on a 225-mile bicycle trek from Clinton, Mo., to St. Charles County, Mo. Friday night will mark the completion of her second day of cycling.
The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce's Movie Night Series offers a pair of family films this weekend--Disney's animated Bolt and the classic American Grafitti. The films will play at the Clara Eitmann-Mesmer Amphitheatre, and admission is $2 per person.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, the Hermann Farm's Gutenberg Stable and the Old Forge and Wagon Werks will open doors for tours, exhibits and displays of early rural life skills, all of which represent the varied talents and expertise of the German settlers to this region.
The Brown Shanty Area Neighborhood Watch will host a BBQ and Raffle starting at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Brown Shanty Community Center, 1378 Hartshorn Drive. Proceeds from the event will benefit Shield 24-7, which supports mid-Missouri law enforcement, firefighters and EMS.
Raffle tickets will be on sale all evening with prizes “too many to list.” Carry-outs will be available for the food.
The Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer is looking for sponsors for holes in its Second Golf Classic. For $75, sponsors can dedicate a hole in memory of a friend or loved one. The Golf Classic will take place Sept. 21.
The Crusade Against Cancer has provided approximately $70,000 to 50 area families in need of support while battling cancer. The Crusade provides money for prescription drugs, household expenses, fuel and other non-medical needs.
The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce's Movie Night Series continues this weekend with two showings of Gone With the Wind on Saturday and Sunday night at the Clara Eitmann-Messmer Amphitheatre. Admission is $2 per person and gates open at 7:15 p.m. each night.
The Rhineland Area Volunteer Fire Department will hold the Seventh Annual Rhineland Truck and Tractor Pull on Saturday on Highway 94 in Rhineland. Gates open at noon, antique tractors begin pulling at noon and the main pull begins at 6:30 p.m.
Admission to the event is $15 for adults and $8 for children between 7 and 12 and seniors over 65. Children 6 and under are free.
