Bethlehem Lutheran Church News for Sunday, August 8th

This Sunday, August 8th, will be the 11th Sunday after Pentecost.  This Sunday, Rev. Edwin H. Dubberke will lead the adult Bible class and proclaim the truths that are ours in Christ Jesus.  The Scripture text for his sermon will be based on The Lord's Prayer from the Gospel of St. Luke, the 11th chapter.  We welcome Pastor Ed and his wife Joan as our special guests as they will be celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary this weekend.

This Sunday, August 1st, will be the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost.  The sermon for this Sunday will be the final sermon in our series on the Old Testament story of Israel.  The final period (538–434 BC) in the sermon series will be based on the decree of the Cyrus, the Persian, allowing the people of Israel exiled in Babylon to return to the Promised Land to rebuild Jerusalem, the temple and the walls.  During this post-exilic period of restoration, there is a mixture of optimism and disillusionment as God’s people await the major intervention of God yet to come when He will

Bethlehem Lutheran Church News for Sunday July 25th

This Sunday, July 25th, will be the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost.  The sermon for this Sunday will be based on the period of the kings and the divided kingdom of Israel as we continue a sermon series on the Old Testament – The Story of Israel.  The "Golden Age" of Israel under King David and King Solomon was short-lived, and following Solomon's apostasy and death the good ole days suddenly came to an end in 930 B.C.

First Baptist Church of Gerald Is Rounding Up for Bible School

The theme for the Vacation Bible School (VBS) to be held at First Baptist Church in Gerald is Saddle Ridge Ranch. At the ranch, youngsters will be “roundin’ up questions, and drivin’ home answers” to questions such as, “What is God’s plan for me?”

First Baptist’s VBS begins on Sunday, July 18, and runs through Friday, July 23. Evening hours are 6:00 to 8:30.

Creation Museum Staff Member Speaks at Camp Trinity

Camp Trinity near New Haven hosted the annual Arise and Shine Retreat weekend from July 8 through 11. The retreat is geared to men and women in their twenties and thirties. Lasting four days, it is designed to encourage members of the Church of the Lutheran Confession in Christian fellowship, growth and training. Young people came from Wisc., Minn., Ill., Mo. and other states.

"I AM" Vacation Bible School at Camp Trinity

The joint Vacation Bible School sponsored by Trinity Lutheran and Bethlehem Lutheran churches at Camp Trinity had 70 or 80 participants. Mornings were spent with lessons and crafts. Afternoons were spent enjoying the great outdoors at Camp Trinity.

St. Paul's UCC Gerald to Hold Vacation Bible School

GERALD - St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, located at 5th and Main in Gerald, will hold their Vacation Bible School (VBS) from Monday, July 12 through Wednesday, July 14. The hours for the VBS are 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. The theme is SonRock Kids Camp: Where Kids Build Their Lives on the Rock: Jesus.

The Bible School is open to children aged two through 12. So far, some 25 students have expressed an interest in coming. Registration is not required. They hope to see as many as possible come on Monday.

St. Paul’s has been in the community since 1859.

Antioch Christian Church Welcomes New Minister

July 4 was the first Sunday for Dave and Helen Atzenweiler at Antioch Christian after 10 years in Oklahoma.

Dave Atzenweiler should remember his first Sunday at his new church. On Independence Day, July 4, Dave preached his first sermon at Antioch Christian Church, located at 6913 Highway CC south of Leslie. The sermon was a patriotic one, with an emphasis on transition. He was called as the new minister at Antioch after the church lost its previous pastor last fall to pancreatic cancer.

Immaculate Conception Church Owensville Celebrates Sixty Years in Building

This building has served Immaculate Conception for sixty years but the church's history goes back much further.

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Owensville celebrated 60 years in their latest building on Friday, June 18. The get-together included a carry-in dinner with the Ladies Sodality supplying the meat and mashed potatoes. Parishioners donated salads, vegetables, fruit, or desserts.

St. Peter's UCC to Host Vacation Bible School

St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in New Haven will be hosting a Vacation Bible School, starting Monday, July 5 through Friday, July 9. It will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

This year’s theme will be Hero Headquarters. The students will be learning, dancing, experiencing, creating, singing, and meeting new friends! They are hoping more children will come to join the fun.
