Wild World Of Animals Wows Fair Audiences

Monkeys and tigers and snakes, oh my.

By Anna Wiegenstein

Among the earliest events to take place at the 2010 Gasconade County Fair was a wild animal exhibition on Wednesday afternoon. Though the stage built behind the livestock barns was modest in appearance, the presentation didn't fail to thrill.

The crowd met members of several different animal families, including an American alligator, a Japanese Macaque monkey and a kookaburra. All of this led up to the act's grand finale -- a 10-month-old Bengal tiger named Nyra (unsurprisingly introduced by Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger").

Illinois-based a cappella group Blend will be returning to Hermann's Showboat Theatre for the third year in a row on the evening of Friday, July 30, promising an old-fashioned blend of variety entertainment and music of the 50's and 60's.

"They just keep wanting to come," said Karen McCrae,  the Showboat board member in charge of Production and Communication.
