HHS Hosts Its First Career Showcase

"This sheet is your ticket into the room.  In other words, DO NOT lose it," said the HHS staff as they delivered career showcase schedules to all of the students on Monday.   I looked at mine: Federal Aviation Administration, FBI, and Journalism.  There had been many other options available, but students ranked their top five choices, and presentations were assigned from there.

TEAM Player and Super Star of the Week

Korinna Bickmeyer is a third grader at Hermann Elementary School

Hermann Elementary is happy to announce their TEAM Player and "Super Star of the Week".  Korinna Bickmeyer, a third grade student in Mrs. Ann Leicht's class, was chosen in a drawing held at school.

Korinna earned her award for displaying a positive work ethic.  At school Korinna enjoys the friendly teachers, and, art and music classes at school.  She likes spending her free time with her brothers, playing her keyboard, or watching television.  Her favorite foods are spaghetti and grapes.

Korinna is the daughter of Kurt and Janelle Bickmeyer.

Jefferson College Choral Concert March 14 Celebrates Unique Composers

The Jefferson College Music Department will present “Pathfinders in Choral Music,” a
choral concert celebrating composers who dared to think outside the box, on Sunday,
March 14, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Hillsboro campus.
 
The concert will be performed by the Madrigal/Contempo Ensemble, Chamber Choir and Community Chorale
 

St. George School To Host Storytelling Festival & Art Exhibit

Sixth grade students have created unique electronic stories while the seventh graders will be performing folk tales from various world cultures they have chosen. Eighth graders will be sharing original children's stories they created.

On March 17, the St. George School will be hosting the first annual “Storytelling Festival & Art Exhibit” featuring work by the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, starting at 6:30 p.m.. Art work from the kindergarten through eighth grade will also be on display in an exhibit.

UCM's Creative Engine Gears Up for Seventh Successful Year

WARRENSBURG – Area not-for-profit organizations can benefit from the expertise of UCM art and graphic design students as the UCM Department of Art and Design launches The Creative Engine Monday and Tuesday, April 12-13.

In its seventh year, The Creative Engine is an annual 24-hour marathon of free graphic design assistance provided by the best and brightest of the university’s aspiring graphic designers. Proposals are being solicited for design projects such as logos, newsletters, event posters, brochures, web pages and print ads.

Borgia High School To Hold Freshman Registration Night

St. Francis Borgia Regional High School will be holding registration for all interested incoming freshman on Thursday, March 4. If your last name begins with A through L, registration begins at 6:30 p.m.  For those whose surname is M through Z, please arrive at 7 p.m.  The registration will be held in the lobby and cafeteria.

The annual FFA week wrapped up at Hermann High School Friday afternoon with the FFA chapter's annual “Barnyard Day.” With FFA members bringing in livestock of their own, elementary students from Hermann and St. George School, along with other younger children, are given the chance to see farm livestock up close and learn a little bit about the livestock.

Created and taught by Maribeth Dann, middle school gifted teacher, students will be creating audio recordings of stories from Hermann residents who attended school before 1955 and learning what education was like then.
