Cecilia Gertrude Jacquin was born on January 15, 1920 at Gasconade Missouri, the forth of seven daughters to Edmond and Pauline (Hug) Jacquin.

Cecilia Gertrude Jacquin was born on January 15, 1920 at Gasconade Missouri, the
forth of seven daughters to Edmond and Pauline (Hug) Jacquin. She attend school in
Gasconade and St. George in Hermann. She was married to James Steiner, who migrated
to the area from Dauphin Island, AL via Pascagoula, Mississippi.  He worked on the
river.

Dorothy Heying feature to air on KSDK-5 on Monday night

Mike Busch's feature broadcast piece on Dorothy Heying's 100th birthday celebration is set to air on the 10 p.m. news on Monday, Dec. 14. on KSDK-5 out of St. Louis.

Camera crews covered both the return of Heying's former students to Hermann High School and her birthday party at Hermann United Methodist Church.

Former students honor 100-year-old educator

Dorothy Heying's former students remember her as the sort of teacher who would buy a comic book version of Moby Dick to pique their interest in the novel.

For the first time in 30 years, Dorothy Heying stood before a class at Hermann High, and this time around, it was standing-room only. A crowd of about 50 of Heying’s former students gathered at the high school to help celebrate their former teacher’s 100th birthday.

She will officially join the centenarian club on Saturday, Dec. 5. An open house party is planned in her honor at the United Methodist Church in Hermann starting at 2 p.m.

Harold Kruse turns 90 this weekend

Harold Kruse is turning 90 years old on Sunday, November 15th.  His wife, Ruth, along with his daughter Denise and Husband Michael and grandchildren Julia and Katherine and her husband Brad O'Neal and his great-grandson Austin wish him a happy birthday and lots of love.
