NOAA's National Weather Service Recognizes St. Louis Zoo as StormReady

Officials from NOAA's National Weather Service today praised the St. Louis Zoo for completing a set of rigorous warning criteria necessary to earn the distinction of being a StormReady® Supporter.

Area Flood Warnings--Monday Update

Rivers are currently scheduled to crest by Tuesday.

Several area communities near the Missouri River remain under a flood warning issued by the National Weather Service, as reported by weather.com

At 7 a.m. on Monday, June 21, the river stage was marked at 30.1 feet--flood stage begins at 22.0 feet. Communities affected include Chamois, Hermann, Gasconade and Washington. 

The current flood conditions are largely a result of saturated soil due to the high frequency of rain throughout the month. 

Flooding Predicted in New Haven – Washington Area through Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Missouri River at Washington until further notice.

At 9:45 a.m. Thursday, the stage was 22.00 feet, which is two feet above flood stage. It is forecast that the river will rise to close to 23.7 feet by Monday afternoon.

At 23.8 feet, Callaway Fork Road north of Hwy. F begins flooding in western St. Charles County. At 22.2 feet, Hwy. 94 floods 1.5 miles southwest of Matson.

THURSDAY UPDATE: National Flood Warning Issued For Hermann, Surrounding Areas

The flood stage is listed at 21.0 ft; as of 9:30 a.m. June 16, the river was marked at 24.6 ft.

The National Weather Service, via weather.com, continues to have flood warnings in effect for Hermann and many surrounding towns. 

National Weather Service Issues Tornado Watch

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Tornado Watch, including Gasconade, Franklin, Osage and Montgomery counties, until 10 p.m. Friday.

Minor Flooding Forecasted With Latest Missouri River Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in St. Louis is continuing a flood warning for the Missouri River at Hermann until Wednesday, March 31. At 9:30 a.m. this morning, the river level was at 21.4 feet; flood stage is 21 feet. Minor flooding is currently occurring and is forecast to continue until the river level falls below flood stage. Though the river is cresting now, it will fall slight before cresting again near 21.7 feet by Monday morning.

The warning also affects areas near Chamois, Callaway and Osage counties at Gasconade and Gasconade and Montgomery counties.

Statewide Drill Postponed

The annual Missouri Severe Weather Drill scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, 2010 has been cancelled due to the threat of severe weather over parts of the state. Another attempt will be made on Thursday, March 11, at 1:30 pm.

Weather Continues To Create Wildfire Dangers For Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY–Missouri has been lucky so far this winter, but the threat of wildfires could return quickly with dry, windy weather.

Bill Altman, forestry field programs supervisor for the Missouri Department of Conservation, said cold, wet weather so far this year has prevented large-scale problems with forest and grass fires. However, one of the primary requirements for a bad fire season – fuel – remains abundant.
